The Department of Mathematics of the University of Pavia is at the top in Italy for its research quality and its undergraduate and graduate programs.
You can choose from a very wide range of courses and seminars, discuss with professors, and do research in an international multi-disciplinary environment with contacts in every part of the world.
You will find a high-quality environment: in 2017 the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research (ANVUR) ranks Pavia first among all Italian universities that offer Bachelor and master’s degrees in mathematics and third for research, behind only the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and the SISSA of Trieste.

Master and PhD Students help bachelor students in their studies with tutoring activities.

The Department offers two PhD courses
– Joint PhD Program in Mathematics, together with Milano Bicocca University and INDAM (Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica).
– International PhD Program in Computational Mathematics and Decision Sciences together with Università della Svizzera Italiana.
